Ledbetter's IRELAND UPDATE
Vol IX, No. 2
March/April 1999
We Greet You All in the Name of the Lord Jesus! We thank you all for your support and prayers that you offer up for this ministry as we work and plow the hearts of Ireland! You keep praying - we’ll keep plowing, AMEN? Amen!
Countdown to Eternity in Mallow! In March, we invited the residents of Mallow to a showing of a terrific video called "Countdown to Eternity." The film shows dramatically that everything that is happening today matches Biblical predictions, and demonstrates the need for people everywhere to repent, and to turn to Jesus Christ. We rented a hotel room for two evenings, and put out 3,700 flyers into the homes of Mallow, and prayed! Well, we had 25 people come out, with 6 of them coming "off the street" so-to-speak. One man, Richard Hayes stayed and talked with me for over an hour, and to this day is in a "search mode" and spiritually hungry. If he gets saved, it will all be worth it!
Funeral of Faithful Member! A dear friend named J.J. Ryan started attending Blarney 2 years ago, and had been such a blessing to the church, and to me personally. But on March 8th, the Lord called him home! The whole church was shocked. He had many ailments, but we expected him to be around a whole lot longer! His sisters asked ME to conduct the funeral service, Praise God! They are not Christian, but had been witnessed to by J.J. about the Lord of his life. Over 100 friends and family came from Cork city, and from England to pay their last respects. Well, we had a great time! Everyone came expecting the same old depressing, and mournful type of funeral, only to find us Christians trying to teach them songs like "The Uncloudy Day" and "My Saviour First of All!" I got to preach to more lost folks that day than I have in a long time! The members of J.J.’s family came up to me and said it was the best funeral they had ever been to – I told them it is only because of Jesus! They have a lot to ponder!
Discipleship Leads 2 Into Bible Institute! Two more men have almost finished our discipleship course, and have already started into the next level of instruction, which is our Bible Institute! AMEN! They are Kevin Bartlett, and Martin Monaghan! When Kevin asked me to begin teaching him the next level, I asked him "why?" He said, "Because Jesus has done so much for me, I want to learn how to do something for Him!" Wow! Praise God!
Mini-Mission’s Conference Held! March was a blessed month because for the first time, we dedicated the month to learning about Missions, and we had a real "live" missionary to BOLIVIA, South America, who actually was in Ireland, and came and preached to us about reaching the lost! The people loved him, and took him on for support right away! Thank God for servants who go "anywhere" to help Christians get involved in soul-winning, world-wide!
Prayer List:
v
The church
offerings are up, and the people are growing, and more men are going out
soul-winning every week! Pray that the flood gates of repentance would soon
open here in the hearts of many more Irish sinners!
v The following people need to get saved: Richard Hayes, Josephine Anders, the Mayer Family, Mary Sommers, Warren Cross, Mary Tighe, Isabella Lynch, Helen Butler, and Jeff Monaghan.
v The following folks are going through some major problems in their hearts and lives and need your prayers for strength and wisdom today! Derek and Eileen Anders (being blown around by lots of winds of doctrine instead of just by God’s word), Deila Buckley (lots of persecution at home keeps her from following the Lord), and Greg and Jane Daly and their kids (caught up in loving this world more than Jesus Christ, and paying for it dearly)!
v
Pray for these to
grow strong: Marlene Layton, Jenna Monaghan, Emmet
Lynch, Kevin Butler, Ken Manley, Pat Tighe, and John
O’Mahoney.
v
Finally, pray
that the Lord would send us some fellow-labourers here – we need the folks in
both churches here to get more involved in soul-winning and discipleship, AND,
I’m convinced we need more Missionary labourers – the harvest is great! Could
you be the one, who would come and help?
