LEDBETTER IRELAND UPDATE
Vol. VIII No. 4
November, 1998
Greetings
in Jesus' sweet and precious name! There are lots of events to report on here. Let me first tell you about
the two souls that got saved recently. The first is a direct answer to loads
and loads of prayer! Her name is Eileen Anders! Praise God! She had
started coming out to church in Blarney a couple of months ago, and really
enjoyed the straight preaching from the Bible, and you could just see her heart
yearn to know the Christ of the Bible! Well, her husband, Derek Anders (who
himself was just saved 3 months ago) worked her through her own spiritual
condition before God, and in their home, on a Wednesday evening, led her to
Christ Jesus for salvation, full and free! Irish soul-winners are the best! The
second person to get saved is named Gillian Butler. She is 11 years old,
and comes out to the church in Mallow. Her brother, Luke, got saved last year.
Her Mom is supposed to be a Christian, but does not attend church. Please pray
that she (Helen Butler) would get right with God, and begin to treasure the
Christian home that she now has by the grace and goodness of God!
Another
great thing to report deals with Derek Anders. He had been saved a few
months back and was on fire for the Lord, but then at the beginning of October
he stopped coming and went searching to make sure he had made the right
decision in both coming to Christ, and in coming out to church. I wrote to several
pastors to ask them to fervently pray for this man and his wife because she was
not saved yet. Well, he went all over the Cork city area visiting various
church groups and fellowships. He then came back one Sunday and pulled me aside
and said, "There's nothing like this church with its people and its
preaching!" All I can say is, "It's all the Lord's work, and we can't
thank HIM enough for what He is doing here!" Boy was my heart glad!
Annual
Church Retreat! 39 of our
folks got away for an overnight meeting at our church camp this past August,
and it was our greatest yet! The Lord worked it out so that two other
Missionary families could be with us and preach - and boy did they do the job!
Our folks were blessed, and can't wait till next year!
Business
Meeting leads to Missions!
Our recent church business resulting in the folks in Blarney beginning to
support our first missionary, and we are about to take on a second missionary
family, all by faith in obedience to Romans 10:15, "How shall they preach,
except they be sent?"!
Incredible
Baptism Event! Two new
Christians were baptized in the Blackwater River in Mallow in September: Emmet
Lynch from Mallow, and Derek Anders from Blarney! But the best part
was when 35 family members and friends came to watch and hear the Gospel
both at church, and then at the river bank! Praise God!
Remember,
none of these things happen by accident, and surely, WE are not sufficient of
ourselves to make all this come about - everything is by your and our prayer
and supplication, and by God's great grace!
Prayer List:
• The
following folks need to get saved: the Mayer Family, Mr. Warren Cross, Mary
Tighe, Marlene Layton, and Isabella Lynch.
• The
following need to grow strong: Derek and Eileen Anders, Jenna Monaghan, Deila
Buckley, Kevin But-ler, Ken Manley, Pat Tighe, and The Daly Family.
• Pray
for all the Christians in both Blarney and Mallow.
• And
pray for us to be faithful preaching God's word here in Ireland!
I pray you have a
blessed Christmas,
and a bountiful harvest
for God in 1999!
